Scooter
Gone Sour

Ben and Jane Amaba, Doral Residents, bought their daughter Ashton a
much-anticipated scooter she had been asking for. Unknowingly, they
had just handed their daughter, as many other parents will this
Christmas season, a very dangerous toy.
“The box display had a child riding without any safety equipment,
so we figured it was safe,” said Ben Amaba. Ashton, while riding on
the sidewalk one afternoon, seems to have hit a groove that sent her
flying off her Razor. “She tried to brake but since the wheels are
so small and the placing of the handlebars, all her weight was shifted
forward,” said Jane.
Ashton broke three bones, two in her left arm and one in her right.
“Luckily”, the doctors said, “it was a clean fracture and no
bones were displaced so it should heal fine with the casts.”

The doctors also reported to the Amabas that they were seeing up to
three cases a day of these kinds of scooter accidents.
Ben and Jane are now definitive about safety gear. Although they
seem relatively harmless, without the proper equipment these very
popular items are actually rather unsafe and dangerous.
As for Ashton, she hasn’t really been interested in riding since
the accident and we’re pretty sure it won’t be on her Christmas
List.

Doral Eye Center adds staff
The Doral Eye Center has a new office manager.
Marino Brioso, who has been working in the eye care field for four
years, will handle all patient relations, ordering and receiving,
accounting and finance, product sales, staff needs and monitor
customer satisfaction.
“The Doral Eye Center is beautiful, organized and really has the
best customer service available,” said Brioso.
In his first month, Brioso says he has taken on a lot of new
responsibility, but agrees that he’s never been happier.

“It is a very professional, quality-oriented, customer service-
related environment,” he said.
“Marino’s pleasant demeanor already has been noticed by my
Doral resident patients and I am proud to have made him part of my
staff,” said Dr. Espinoza.
