Hands Up!

By Jeannie Gauthier

Have you ever noticed how many phrases use the word “hands.” For example: Hands on, helping hands and show of hands.

Recently, I began to realize how much we take our hands for granted and all the hard work they supply for us on a daily basis. From the most simplistic tasks to complex maneuvers — ah, yes, our hands.

Suddenly a thought came to me: What have I done for my wonderful hands to show them how much I appreciate them?. The answer was “nothing.” Other than the occasional nail filing to rid myself of those pesky catches on my new nylons, I haven’t shown my hands in a long time how much I truly love them and appreciate the faithfulness and loyalty they continue to show me.

I knew I was embarking on an epiphany. I immediately thought to consult with our top staff nail technician, Carolina, on how I could express to my 10 digits the most gratitude they could experienced.

Here is a brief summary of some of the ways our hands could be simply cared for to luxuriously pampered.

First is the basic manicure. Most of us at one time of our lives have experienced this simple gesture of thanks to our hands. Allow me to continue.

The next level of gratitude is the manicure with high performance treatments such as paraffin wax treatment. Close your eyes now and imagine your hands being enveloped in a warm, soothing wax bath. Mmmm, mmmm, good.

Now as if this is not decadent enough, as a pre-paraffin treatment try the exfoliating crystals. When massaged into the hands the crystals produce a sloughing action to the top layer of skin cells to eliminate excessive dry skin. I can almost hear my hands singing the Hallelujah Chorus. Can’t you?

To extend the experience for a finishing touch, we cannot forget the large variety in polish color. Noting that the most popular polish technique is the multi-seasonal French. However the trend recommendations for polish colors of this season are from OPI: Grand Central Carnation, Marooned in the Subway, and Big Apple Red. All themed from New York City.

Well, I for one am now convinced that my hands will be well cared for as I allow myself to partake in some of the delicacies of hand and nail treatments.

Carolina has thoroughly convinced me that in this particular season of Thanksgiving I can lift up my hands in thanks confident that they have been cared for their continued effort to simplify the task of Living La Vida Loca.
