At last, more than 850 members of The Club at Doral Golf
Resort & Spa have a place to call their own.
A panoramic view of the Blue Monster Golf Course
The Member Clubhouse, which opened recently, has a
panoramic view of the Blue Monster, includes an intimate dining room
with a cathedral ceiling, a club boardroom, both men's and ladies'
locker rooms, as well as a lounge. A nice addition is a shoeshine
service, which many members use regularly.
There is also a terrace for members who prefer outdoor
dining. The décor, which incorporates cherry wood, marble, brass and
leather, exudes the elegant ambiance of traditional fine clubs
worldwide. You almost expect to see Jeeves or Nigel, the butler to greet
you, but even sans butler, members can feel right at home as all of the
staff members call club members by name!
Karen Justice, the vivacious Director of Club
Operations, said, "Until we opened The Clubhouse just a few months
ago, our members really had no official place to meet. Now the members
can get to meet each other. This is a great situation where they can
socialize and do much more. This community is great and we've done a
great job."
She continued, "We have a year round clientele and
attract a lot of sports members. The Clubhouse is that extra special
touch which adds to the magic of Doral. Where else in the world can you
get 5 championship golf courses, aerobics, spinning classes, two fitness
centers, the Blue Lagoon water park, a choice of several restaurants,
and shopping all in one setting?"
The boardroom and lounge both have walls lined with
private cigar, wine and cognac lockers All of the lockers come complete
with a humidor. Monthly club tasting events allow members to purchase
rare and unique liqueurs, cognacs and wines at preferred club rates.
For sports enthusiasts who wish to catch an out of town
sporting event there are oversized televisions strategically situated
within the clubhouse.
Members can keep in touch with each other, view the club
calendar, and register for club events through the club's new web site.
Justice said, "It's ideal for members who take a
trip and want to know what's happening."
The club boardroom is a perfect place for members to
hold special meetings as its amenities include current copies of five
different newspapers, as well as computer, telephone and fax machine
access--and it is conveniently located next to the restaurant for
entertaining during or after the meeting.
Clubhouse hours accommodate the early bird golf players
and the late risers as well. It opens at 6 AM with a continental
breakfast available. A healthy lunch buffet that includes an array of
salads, cold cuts and one hot dish, is served starting at 11 AM--Sunday
brunch begins at 11 AM and ends at 3 PM.
Although the new clubhouse is the epitome of elegance
and style a casual attitude is evident in many regards. Most members
dressed in sports attire come in to relax after a game of golf. and more
than often are joined by family members.
Justice noted, "We are very family friendly here.
We want the whole family to enjoy this wonderful facility."
And indeed everyone is welcomed at The Clubhouse with
warm and friendly smiles.
"We give a lot of personalized attention here. Our
members are very special to us," said Justice with a smile.
