Geis, assistant district director for minority enterprise development, will answer all your questions regarding the role of the SBA and the various services they provide to small businesses.

You can register for the luncheon by calling the chamber office at 305 592 5141 or by sending an e-mail to DAWCC@msn.com; registration fees are $20 for members and $25 for non-members if you make your reservations by Friday, June 16--add another $5 if you register at the door.

The luncheon will be held at the Holiday Inn Miami Airport West, 3255 NW 87 Avenue. Registration and networking begins at 11:30 AM and the program starts promptly at noon.

And mark your calendars to hear the upcoming luncheon speakers

July 18--Alex Penelas, mayor, Miami-Dade County

September 19--Alberto Ibarguen, publisher, The Miami Herald

Membership drive a success
During May we held our first ever Membership Drive and added 50 new companies to the chamber's membership roster. Many thanks to our top producers: Joann Soman of Kennedy-Wilson Florida Management, Felipe E. Madrigal of Green Guard First Aid and Safety Equipment, and Laura Whitten of Cardel Hospitality Group.

Have you read "The Pilot" this week?
The chamber's Executive Director, Art Walker, has created a new weekly publication that is faxed to all members. Going out each Monday morning, "The Pilot" covers a wide range of topics from chamber events to business opportunities.

Miami-Dade Fire-Rescue Department HQ now located in Doral
With the move of the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Department to Doral (detailed in last month's Doral Tribune), Doral has become home to the county's most important and visible departments: Fire-Rescue and the Miami-Dade Police Department Headquarters.

The first group to move in was the Emergency Management Office (just in time for hurricane season, and they will soon be followed by the Fire-Rescue Department's headquarters staff.

Mr. Abbate serves on the Doral and Airport West Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors as Vice President, Public Affairs, and is Director of Communication and Resource Development for Carrfour Corporation.
