Chamber to hold Tenth Annual Installation Dinner

BY ANDRE ABBATE

On Tuesday, March 28, business leaders from the community will gather in the Grand Ballroom at Doral Golf Resort and Spa for the Airport West Chamber of Commerce Tenth Annual Installation Dinner.

This year's program will feature a number of new and exciting events including the formal announcement of the Chamber's new name and the unveiling of our new logo.

The evening will open with "The Presentation Of The Colors" by the United States Southern Command Joint Task Force Color Guard. The Color Guard is comprised of members of each branch of the military serving within the jurisdiction of the United States Southern Command.

Our evening will also feature the presentation of three special awards.

The "Officer of the Year Award" is being presented to Det. Gilbert Correa who made a dramatic narcotics arrest in 1999 which earned him personal recognition from Miami-Dade Mayor Alex Penelas.

Our "Entrepreneur of the Year Award" which recognizes a young company who has achieved dramatic growth and success will be presented to Mr. Carlos Rodriguez, Chairman and CEO of Cardel Hospitality.

His company, which is based in Doral, owns and operates three local hotels, is a partner in the Opus Corporate Park, and has other hotel properties and projects throughout Florida.

In recognition of the Chamber's Tenth Anniversary, the Board of Directors created the "Corporate Community Service Award" designed to recognize a company who has made significant contributions to the community.

The award is being presented to Mr. M. Anthony Burns, Chairman and CEO of Ryder Systems, Inc. Under the leadership of Mr. Burns, Ryder Systems has long been active in the community.

Their most notable accomplishments range from the Doral Ryder Open to the Ryder Trauma Unit to the recently opened Ryder Charter School.

We hope you will join us for this special program as we recognize the best our community has to offer!
