"We're a hometown company," says real estate
broker Jesus Fernandez of his Doral Isles Realty, which just opened.
"We operated in Coral Gables for a year to have a base, while we
were waiting for Doral Isles Plaza to be finished."

Miami-Dade County Mayor Alex Penelas, long-time friend
Jon Secada, and Gloria, Emilio and Jose Estefan were among those who
attended the ribbon cutting, November 19. Fernandez added, "In
the short time since we've opened, we're already showing great success
in the residential and commercial field."

office, as husband Jesus and their children look on.
This realty company's niche seems to be helping new
homebuyers negotiate with developers in the Doral area. Fernandez said
of that, "We specialize in Doral and facilitate a lot of new
sales here. I take time to talk to developers to know and understand
the product."
That information gathering is very important at the
company, for as Fernandez said, "We're then able to pass this on
to our clients and give them a more comprehensive overview."
The majority of clients comprise people from South
America, especially Venezuela, Brazil, Colombia and, to a surprising
extent, Mexico. A lot of buyers want a vacation home or an investment
property. Because they are largely absentee owners, the responsibility
for property management often falls upon the realty.
Fernandez recognizes that the job they do is received
positively, saying that Doral Isles Realty has, "high client
loyalty." When it comes time for re-sale or another purchase this
loyalty translates into continued reliance upon Doral Isles Realty to
help with the deal.
A Doral resident himself, Fernandez is a hometown boy,
born and raised in Miami. His ambition is to be a catalyst in Doral's
future.
As he explained, "I take pride in my community.
I've seen it grow. Doral is growing in every sector--be it economic,
commercial or industrial."
And what sort of clientele does he work with? "I
deal with a lot of foreign nationals who like to go on shopping
sprees," he said, "The new Dolphin Mall will be a further
incentive for them to buy here, on top of Doral's proximity to the
airport and other points in Miami."
Fernandez is no stranger to the real estate business,
although this is his first agency. He brings seven years' experience
to the business, having worked in re-sales, new sales and commercial
sales. He was with Lennar Homes for about two years in the sales
department, concentrating exclusively in the Doral area. After that
experience he decided to strike out on his own.
He is also very proud of his staff, noting, "I
hand picked my agents."
He concentrates on training new sales associates,
remembering his first go in the business. "I take them under my
wing. I make sure to show them around to all of the developments to
have a clear picture. I train them in a more personalized manner than
a large company would," he said.
"Our aim is to orient buyers to sellers. Our
future is in Doral because Doral is the future," he concludes.
